The Academy Is (English)





The Academy Is is an alternative rock/punk pop band from Chicago, Illinois (USA) formed in 2003. The original name was just The Academy, headed by William Beckett (vocals) together with Adam Siska (Bass), Mike Carden (guitar), AJ LaTrace (rhythm guitar) and Michael DelPrincipe (drums).




In 2004 they record with LLR Recordings their debut EP, "The Academy", which was released 23 March 2004. William Beckett had recorded in 2002 with the same label his solo album "The Last Place You Look" under the name Remember Maine.

This same year they change the band name to The Academy Is to avoid legal problems with other bands. Pete Wentz listens to their EP debut and get them a contract with Fueled By Ramen.





8 February 2005 The Academy Is releases their debut album with Fueled By Ramen, "Almost Here".

After the album release and the summer tour, AJ LaTrace and Michael DelPrincipe leave the band, being replaced by Tom Conrad and Andy Mrotek. They toured with bands such as Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack or Something Corporate besides taking part in the famous Warped Tour.





In October 2006, Tom Conrad leaves the band and Michael Guy Chislett takes his place. The definitive formation is William Beckett (vocals), Adam Siska (Bass), Mike Carden (Rhythm Guitar), Michael Guy Chislett (Lead Guitar) and Andy Mrotek (Drums).





21 February 2006 they release a six acoustic song EP via iTunes, "From The Carpet".

19 August 2008 they release their third studio album "Fast Times At Barrington High", collaborating in it Metro Station, Jack´s Mannequin and Cobra Starship.
